as a third generation native new yorker, robin morris began her design career in the 1990s with a line of lost wax cast jewelry featured in boutiques across the country. she then went on to work as an interior designer starting in 2007. After several years of sourcing the work of other artists she felt the need to begin creating her own limited edition ceramic vessels.

this current collection of work is informed and inspired by the urban landscape of new york - the continued presence of layers of life that offer a scenery with patterns, shapes and colors rooted in the shared space of constant expression and use. the work often starts with images photographed while walking to or from the studio - worn paint left on the sidewalk, images reflected in a display window, scaffolding covering a construction site.

these pieces also draw inspiration from many abstract and non-representational ceramists such as George Ohr, Peter Voulkos and Toshiko Takaezu.
